Terrier Dogs

They are breed as housedogs. They are very sensitive and develop to hunt and kill vermin and pests or dig out prey into the dens. Terrier Dogs include Airedale, American Staffordshire, Bedlington, Border, Sealyham, and Yorkshire Terrier etc.

The Terrier Group consists of breeds that are determined and very competitive. Two types of terriers are fighting breeds and vermin hunters. Fighters such as pit bulls and bull terriers are courageous yet perhaps somewhat cocky but fortunately most of their aggression has been bred down. They can make excellent pets but need early socialization to ensure that they can be comfortable around other people and animals.

Just like other breeds of dogs, the terriers have a wide variety of characteristics that make each one different from the other. Many owners have found these dogs to be faithful to the families that they live with and go to an extreme to protect the home that he lives in. They are distinguished for their guarding techniques and can easily differentiate between those who intend to cause harm and those who do not. Their protective instinct is supposed to have come from the fact that earlier breeds were used in dog fights. After the sport was banned, breeders shifted to producing these dogs for the domestic market where many cross breeds produced keen, protective terriers.
