Guinea Pigs: Guinea Pigs are not at all pigs despite of their name. Guinea Pigs are part of the Rodent family that can also include rats, hamsters, squirrels, beavers etc. Guinea pigs are very popular pets as they have very soft nature, good temperaments, and the tendency to not to bite or scratch anyone when handled. Guinea Pigs are not at all pigs despite of their name. They can be available in variety of colors and fur textures. They have lots of breeds and some are short-haired, some are long-haired etc. Their average lifespan can be from 3 - 8 years, so they are not really life-long pets.

 

Hamsters: Hamsters are nocturnal rodents as they are more active by night rather than in the daytime. They considered as popular pets, and the most common hamster which is used as pet is Syrian Hamster, also popular as ‘Golden Hamster’. The pair of Hamster should be kept separately as they have the tendency to fight with each other. The usual weight of a Hamster male is around 80-150kg and of female is approximately 90-120kg. The average life span is between 2-5 years.

 

Mice: Mice are one of the smaller breed of the rodent family. Mice can be used as pets as their activities are very interesting and entertaining to watch. They are naturally very active and considered as ‘busy bodies’. Having a mice as a pet is a brilliant idea, as they neither need too much space nor too much expensive. Mice are related to rats and are a member of the ‘'Muridae Family'. Mice can grow up to 14-22cm long (including their tail) and can be weighing between 28-65 grams. Their average life span is about 2-3 years.

 

Zebra: Zebra belongs to Equidae family, members of horse family and are odd-toed ungulates. Zebras are native to eastern, southern and southwestern Africa . They are very much popular because of their black and white stripes. They are generally a social animal and can be considered as pets.  Zebras are generally 2.5metres (8.5 feet) long and weigh around 300-420kg.

 

Sheep: Like all other, ruminants, sheep are even-toed ungulate, also commonly known as cloven-hoofed animals. They are usually kept as livestock and domesticated for agricultural purposes, fleece and meat. Therefore, it is a multipurpose animal. There are more than 200 breeds of sheep such as Suffolks , Barbados Blackbelly, proverbial black sheep.        

 

       Buffalo: Buffalo usually domesticated in Asian Countries. The Buffalo is a multi-purpose animal. It is very good source of milk, meat and can also serve as by doing heavy cattle work as buffalo contains natural source of energy. The production of buffalo milk in Asia-pacific region exceeds to 45 million tones annually. Out of which 30 million tones are produced in India alone. Therefore, is very productive and efficient especially in those agricultural countries where there is an ample manpower and insufficient mechanization.

 

Donkey: Donkeys are social animals and prefer to live with a companion. They feel very lonely and depressed without a companion and remain healthier and happier when paired up. There are various breeds of donkeys but jennet or gelding makes the most loving pet as they are very affectionate, intelligent and can easily be trained. These sweet animals respond well to the right training, and will be faithful companions for life. Pasture grass is their primary food but they can also have good horse-quality Bermuda hay as their diet as it is a very good source of nutrition. They can be found in variety of colors but Gray-dun is the predominate color apart from black, brown, white, sorrel etc.
