F1 Camels

This breed is a result of cross breeding of Dromedary and Bactrian Camels. They are much heavier and therefore used for carrying loads and plowing. They are excellent draft animals since they posses the better genes of both breeds. Their size tends to be huge and another defining characteristic of this species is that it has just one hump on its back making it easily recognizable. Cross breeding of Dromedary and Bactrian camel occurs in Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Iran, Russia and Turkey to produce a fast-maturing hybrid that is larger, stronger and more docile than either parent. The hybrids can be over 7.5 ft at the shoulder and weigh up to 2200 lb. They have a single, elongated hump from shoulder to rump. Hybrid camels are used as draft animals and are more tractable than the parent species. The faster maturation means they reach working size sooner than the purebred parents.
