Dromedary CamelsThe Dromedary Camel / Camelus Dromedarius is a large even-toed ungulate native to northern Africa and western Asia, also the land of east Africa, Sudan, Somalia and Ethiopia. Found almost in all beaches, deserts and many exotic resorts for entertainment. They are the basic and the most fundamental breed among camels and all the other breeds are derived from the dromedary camels. Their features are similar to all the camels, with thick eye lashes and two humps they are unique in their own way. Survival without water is their major trademark and they can survive many days without eating. They are especially bought by people in deserts for traveling purposes as they end up being very efficient and cost effective. This breed of camel is around 9.5-11 feet high and weighs around 700-1500 pounds. Their color ranges from white, brown, tan, red, black and spotted. They have longer legs which helps them to run easily. These camels come from North and East Africa They have a shorter fiber coat, even in winter, and they are typically taller than Bactrians at the humps. Dromedary camels have one hump and they are native to Arabia. Dromedary camels are invaluable beast of burden, but are especially valued for their meat, wool, and milk. |
