Bactrian Camels

Camelus Bactrianus: They are Asian camels, which come from desert of China and Mongolia. They have two humps and legs are shorter as compare to other breeds of camels. This is usually 6-7.5 feet high and weighs 1300-2100 pounds. Their lifespan is between 25-45 years. During the winter, Bactrian camels have a shaggy dark brown or beige coat, which is sheds in large sheets when warmer temperatures come in the spring. This long, even toed and two humped animal is commonly found in the lands of north eastern Asia. These camels can be subdivided into wild Bactrian camels. They usually reside in the mountains of China. Bactrian camels are full of energy and always enjoy themselves by indulging in their atmosphere. Even the baby Bactrian camels grow early with their adults. 

Bactrians are still found in very small numbers in the wild, mostly in the Gobi desert. They endure both extreme cold of their northern range, but also extreme heat during the summer. The domesticated Bactrian is as different from its wild relatives as the domestic yak or reindeer are from theirs. Both species are found in numerous colors, as a product of domestication. They range from white to black, pinto or piebald, to the common tan or brown.

 Conservation: According to Evolutionarily Distinct and Globally Endangered (EDGE) the Bactrian camel was identified as one of the top-10 "focal species” in 2007. The Bactrian camel is among the top 10 species that needs protection. The population of Bactrian camel is decreasing and we need to take care of them. So, that this nice breed wouldn’t be disappeared from earth.
