Arabian Horses

The Arabian horse is one of the most popular breeds of horses throughout all of history. Some are even mentioned in old Jewish and Muslim texts as being loyal companions and servants. The Arabian horse is an animal which has lived on the Arabian Peninsula for well over 2000 years. These horses were properly bred to demonstrate many traits which were attractive, such as strength, beauty, and endurance. Many experts on horses have concluded that Arabian horses are among the oldest breeds in the world.

Appearance of Arabian Horse:  Arabian horses are known for their physical attributes: those wide-set eyes: short arched back: and high tail carriage. Arabian horses are also known for being a sound breed. Their strong resilient legs and dense compact bone makes them free from most lameness. They are strong and loyal and are well suited for many purposes including showcasing: endurance rides of 50 to 100 miles: harsh weather conditions and of course, recreational riding. Alert and curious, the Arabian is quick and intelligent, making it a wonderful companion.

Training of Arabian Horse :  Arabian horse training can be thought of as a very easy process. Arabian horses are very intelligent and can learn new things quite quickly especially if a salt lick or two are involved. They are also good at communicating with a rider, especially if it’s one that they know and trust. On the other hand, these horses can also be a handful. As stated earlier, these horses are quick learners and sadly that means that the horses could learn bad things quickly as well as good things. That is why you should never beat or whip or shock the horse, as this can teach the horse not to trust humans. Also, make sure a trainer should be used on the horse that has experience, as the horses can grow impatient with a trainer who is unsure of training practices or who is abusive.

Depending on the strain and characteristics, Arabians are used for Western and English riding, racing, jumping, endurance competitions, showing, cutting and reining, and dressage. This is a very versatile horse which bonds naturally with humans and can also be used as a family horse for people of all ages.
