American paint HorsesThe American Paint Horse is one of the fastest-growing breeds in North America. It combines both the conformational characteristics of a western stock horse with a pinto spotting pattern of white and dark coat colors. The American Paint Horse is an excellent horse for ranch work, rodeo, trail riding, showing, or simply as a friendly mount for the kids. They are very strong breed of horse and have an easy going temperament. They are generally used for cattle work. Every American Paint Horse has white hair combined with some other color found in horses. This includes brown, black, tan, or gray. American Paint horses are related to the American Quarter Horse, and share the same ancestors. The markings on these horses can be anywhere on its body. Like the Quarter Horse, American Paint Horses are known for their speed and athletic qualities. The paint horse was cherished by cowboys for work with buffalo and livestock. Native Americans revered it because they believed it possessed magical powers. Both the cowboys and Native Americans would add color and decorations to themselves and to their horses to make stand out and be different from others. This horse is loved by many and is a dependable, hard worker that is known for its easy, comfortable paces that could be maintained over very long distances-this was, of course, very important to the people in the Old West that rode them. |
